Standard DBS Check

Employees who don’t give vulnerable people personal care may be qualified for a standard DBS check.

Barred List Checks

An Enhanced DBS check will contain the same information as a standard DBS check with a Barred Lists certificate, along with a check of one or both Barred Lists.

Depending on whom they are hired to work with, there are three categories of barred list checks.

  • Workers in the adult workforce who are engaged in regulated activities involving vulnerable adults
  • Child workforce: for those working with kids in regulated environments
  • Workforce of adults and children – for personnel engaged in regulated activity involving adults and children at risk.

VALUE-BASED SAFER RECRUITMENT

By conducting Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) checks on your employees, we assist you in making safer recruitment decisions. In England and Wales, DBS checks are a requirement that can help you hire employees qualified to work with vulnerable children and adults while also helping you adhere to legal requirements.

When you apply for disclosure, as an employer, you must establish a thorough process for verifying the identity documents of your employees. You must first view the original paperwork in order to confirm that the proper steps have been taken and that you have seen enough paperwork to submit the disclosure application.

Employers cannot discriminate against DBS check applicants with a criminal history based on a conviction or other information that was made public.
